What is the selection process?

The selection process for the posts of Sub-Inspector/Sub-Inspectress (Unarmed Branch) and Sergeant in Kolkata Police 2023 consists of the following stages¹²³⁴:


- **Preliminary Examination**: This is a screening test of 200 marks comprising of objective type questions on General Studies, Logical & Analytical Reasoning and Arithmetic. The duration of the exam is 90 minutes. The candidates who qualify this exam will be eligible for the next stage.

- **Physical Measurement Test (PMT)**: The candidates who qualify the preliminary examination will be called for PMT. The candidates will have to meet the minimum physical standards as prescribed by the WBPRB. The candidates who fail to meet the standards will be eliminated.

- **Physical Efficiency Test (PET)**: The candidates who qualify the PMT will be eligible for PET. The candidates will have to undergo one of the following tests depending on their post preference:
